A moving story about two broken people and their journey towards mending and healing. Might even evoke some introspection. A book with a message -- a therapeutic one.

I liked all the Charles Martin books I'd read thus far, but not this one. Mainly because there is an end-stage terminally ill patient in it, one who is in a tremendous amount of physical agony. I found it quite implausible to accomplish what they set out to do. Husband and wife embarked on their fin...

A story of honor, code of conduct and chivalry... about doing the right things when the going gets tough. Between the choices of the steeliness of revenge and the tenderness of redemption, the author weaves a engrossing tale.

My daughter chose to read this book for summer reading for her Honors English class. We knew nothing much about the book and absolutely nothing about the author. The thing about literary fiction, Christian or otherwise, is you have to love the language. To be done right, an author needs to value things like sentence structure, placement of words, and economy of prose. In WHEN CRICKETS CRY, Charles Martin gets two out of three right. His sentence structure is...

The GoodIt was readable and I finished (lately that has been rare for me). I also read it a month ago and had no problem remembering details to write a review. I think the underlying story was good just not executed very well. The BadSome sections of writing we're the definition of "trying to hard...

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars, The writing is so real that you will feel the character's pain, so moving and leaves the reader with something to think about. Amazing!!
