This was the book that sealed the deal. If New York detective noir (with a vampire twist) is the kind of description that piques your interest, I strongly recommend this book. It's completely unlike most UF, nary a sparkle or wolf to be found, and owes most of its atmosphere to the Sam Spade traditi...
I have a special fondness in my heart for NYC. The Met. The Chinese food. The Strand. The people zoo. Especially the people zoo--every time I go, I'm reminded of Whoopie Goldberg in Jumpin' Jack Flash saying, "There's some funky lookin' people in New York." I don't often see the NY Huston writes abo...
So, what have we here? Deadpool #900, which is a fairly hefty collection of short stories, the Widdle Wade story (I don't know why this is here...), Deadpool #1000, which is another fairly hefty collection of short stories, a Deadpool Christmas special, and Captain America: Who Won't Wield the Shiel...
A ghettotized vampire version of Dick Tracey. Lots of wheelin' and dealin'; shaken folks down. Joe, being so low on the totem pole, did not endear me to his character at all. It kind of belies his whole tough as nails demeanor. He was constantly getting beat up and not cleaning up his messes. Howeve...
I almost gave this book three stars, for being so exactly what it is.So exactly what it is, in fact, that at first I thought I stumbled on a parody of the genre (which is the hard-boiled private eye type).Joe Pitt is a Vampyre in New York. Because he has the Vyrus. Except there really is a supernatu...
A somewhat fitting ending to a series that held me captive for all five books. I am not quite sure what to think about this one... I don't think I understood what happened to Joe and to Evie. And there were so many loose ends but I think that was part of what had to happen. Yeah, yeah, I know, this ...
Joe Pitt is really hitting the bottom this time. Exiled from Manhattan, Pitt finds himself living like a homeless person, trying to stay alive in the Bronx. And there is some real evil going on over there, some really sick stuff.
Audiobook version. The premise was interesting, but I couldn't get past the first 45 minutes. The gaming references were incomprehensible to me and I just couldn't connect.
2/5; 2 stars; CThis started out really good. Edgey with a film noir feel. Kind of like The Maltese Falcon with vampyres and thugs instead of Bogart and dames. Then it dragged and there were big detours to fill in back story and then the really tough guys came into the scene and I just about keele...
Joe Pitt gets mixed up in a nasty double-cross and, as usual, he's on the losing end of it...There is a new drug going around the Island of Manhattan and it's causing havoc among the newly converted. Seems that this drug is the only way for a Vampyre to get high, or at least feel the high they did b...
