Th cultures shown within the book are wonderfully shown and their interacts true to encounters of the past. The emotions conveyed are powerful to experience and bring the reader fully into the world of Chocolat.

I read this book because I loved the movie. Once I found out the film was based on a book, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Needless to say, I had high expectations. They weren't completely satisfied, but neither were they completely disappointed.Mmmm...mmmm...I'm not sure what to say about...

I think I would have given it 4 stars if I hadn't seen the movie already. I couldn't get the movie characters out of my head enough to focus. Despite that, it was enjoyable.

I bought this off the sale table at the bookstore. having seen the movie I was quite surprised at the differences in the book. I enjoyed the book, and liked the depth added to the characters.
