I've only read one of Neil Gaiman's children's books, The Wolves In the Walls, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this. This was adorable. Destructive. but adorable. Chu's Day is a cute book. The illustrations are adorable. Pandas are adorable. The pun of the main character's name is adorable. Pretty much every aspect of the book is freakin' adorable.But there's not really much else to it.What Chu's Day boils down to is a story that builds and builds and builds ...
This is a good book for very young children.It is a day with Chu and his pa, going to library, going to the restaurant, going to circus. And chu wants to sneeze, almost sneeze, but didn't sneeze. The illustrations are likable.
The vibrantly colored illustrations overshadow Gaiman's story.
