This breaks my heart every damn time. There's too many unhappy gay love stories, but this one's just beautiful. Every sentence tells a whole novel, really - and more often than not, hits me right in the feels... I read it first years before the movie, but in my head the actors have totally taken ove...

What makes Brokeback Mountain one of my favorite short stories is the fact that it is a perfect combination of simplicity and emotional charge. There's nothing fancy or exaggerated in it, but it will most definitely rip your heart out. I would recommend Brokeback Mountain to anyone who loves beautif...

A spare and beautiful story that encompasses two lives - or perhaps, two lives not lived - in only 54 pages. the rough, unaffected dialogue of the cowboys contrasted with soaring and detailed descriptions of their surroundings make each other more poignant by the differences. Ennis's stoicism break...

After reading this and watching the movie, I really don't get the hype. It's a decent story, which wasn't converted very well into movie form, if you ask me. Also, people are acting like it's the first story/film to deal with something like this. Not even close.

This isn't a gay love story, it's just a love story. Ennis loved a human being who happened to b...

Audiobook. I did not realize this was a short story. This is an unabridged CD with Campbell Scott as the narrator. I should have known it was a short story because usually if its a celebrity narrating the book, it's the abridged version. I have never watched the movie, although I've wanted to. I...

hmpf....I have tried several times now, to just sit down and write a review of this short story but it's just not working for me. It simply boils down to: I didn't care for it. The writing style was just too sparse for me. About all I have been able to formulate for any kind of review is that I l...

A lot like the movie, but the movie had things added into it. Some of the dialogue in this book is the same as the movie's. I don't really have anything else to say. More insight into their lives pre-Brokeback, but nothing much beyond if you've seen the movie.
