Cordelia's Honor is the collection of Shards of Honor and Barrayar, which covers the lives/courtship of Aral Vorkosigan and Cordelia Naismith, Miles Vorkosigan's parents. This omnibus is greater than the sum of the two books, pulling in a comprehensive pre-history of Miles, not just two books that...
3.5 stars so farIt's amazing what goodreads can do to your reading habit. I thought I'd never enjoy sci-fi books. I've tried a bit before and was not happy by the whole technicality and how everything have to be called something else just because it's supposed to be something super duper complicated...
Huge thanks to everyone at Dear Author who recommended Lois McMaster Bujold. How had I not read this series before? I thought Shards of Honor wobbled a little, but Barrayner charged home. Love the thoughtfulness of the characters and that their actions have costs. Will definitely read more by Bujold...
This was a fun adventure to read. I could easily see myself meeting someone like Cordelia, where she's sympathetic to the human race, but will have no problem coming after whoever hurts her family. Bujold's tone and voice were great. I would love to eventually read more of her books.
I've almost finished the first of the two novels combined in this book. And I liked it, really. But It was quite bleak and I needed something to lift me up last fall. Therefore I stopped to switch to a lighter and brighter fare in between. Somehow I never had the will to pick it up again. I am sure ...
Every now and then a certain thing that I haven't yet read, watched, or otherwise experienced at all, will suddenly get itself lodged in my brain by way of a hook that I cannot even identify, and stay there, forcing me to get around to it very soon.I can't say what it was, beyond the normal "I haven...
It is a good thing that these two books are joined in one volume. The first book, Shards of Honor is by far the weaker book; however, when taken with Barrayar, it works.Honor sets the stage by introducing the reader to Aral and Cordelia. These two would be lovers are from different, quasi warring,...
This is an omnibus edition containing the first two (chronologically speaking) books in the Miles Vorkosigan Sci-Fi series: Shards of Honor and Barrayar. Shards of Honor tells the story of how Miles' parents (Cordelia Naismith and Aral Vorkisigan)meet and through unlikely circumstances fall in love...
A new fantasy series one of my friends recommended me. It's very interesting so far, but I'll withhold judgement for a bit longer, until I've read at least one of the sequels.
