Tired of the typical boring guides? This guide tries to do the same as the “ask a local”, but it is (maybe!) better organized and more complete. In all our guides, we hire a “local” writer, and then we edit to be sure that the guide is complete, unique, fun and interesting. Typically we won’t add too many maps or photos (just a few), since you can have all that on the internet, and we like to give you only unique and original content that you won’t find easily.
Here is a brief description of the guide:
This Cuba book will guide you in steps of cha cha cha to the most interesting places in this truly unique country. Written by a local with the intention of giving you a peak inside one of the world’s most vibrant cultures, reading this book is all you need to know to plan this once in a lifetime trip. Almost everybody knows a little bit of Cuban history; to get up to speed on this country’s past and present read chapter 2: Cuba’s history, Hasta la victoria siempre. The nature of our regime requires you know a few things about “How to get in the country without any issues”; for that there is chapter 3. To plan your trip, you need to fully understand the country’s layout and transportation system, so prep for that with chapter 4, while chapter 5 “How is Cuba different than your country” is meant to give you an overview on all things specific to this land.
We start the tour of the country with the beloved capital in chapter 6 “La Havana magic”. In chapter 7 and 8 we go out of the busy capital and into the idyllic countryside with the nature lover’s Pinar del Rio and the historical Santa Clara. Chapter 9 is reserved to the special town of Santiago de Cuba, Cuba’s second largest city and a definite cradle of culture. Half way, in chapter 10, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: Cuba’s beaches or how to choose your perfect patch of sunny goodness. Chapter 11 offers more ideas of towns that are worth visiting in Cuba. Cuba is a bio diverse territory with some amazing chances for eco tourism. For that we have national parks, fully described in chapter 12. One of the traits we’re most known for is our musicality. Learn about the country’s musical scene in chapter 13: Musica Cubana. Cubans love to sing and celebrate and there is more than one occasion throughout the year to do that; find out what are our major holidays and celebrations in chapter 14. What foods to expect and what drinks you must try when you’re in Cuba in chapter 15: Delicious Cuban food and drinks. Chapter 16 paints an introductory portrait of the Cuban people and chapter 17 offers a few safety pointers to keep in mind while traveling, although as you will see it is pretty safe to visit Cuba.
In Cuba you will have to choose between two distinct accommodation options: all inclusive resorts and casa particulares. Before you make a decision, find out the pros and cons of each in chapter 18. And finally, in chapter 19 we say our Adios a Cuba/Farewell to Cuba.
