Review originally posted [here]. **This review contains spoilers** Darkly Dreaming Dexter is one of the rare occasions where the television show (or movie) is better than the book. DDD falls extremely flat when compared to its television counterpart. Jeff Lindsay is not an expertise writer, he f...

Meet Dexter Morgan, a polite wolf in sheep's clothing. He's handsome and charming, but something in his past has made him abide by a different set of rules. He's a serial killer whose one golden rule makes him immensely likeable: he only kills bad people. And his job as a blood splatter expert for t...

Dexter is a forensic scientist, and a part-time serial killer, but the people he picks aren't missed in the community, they're the killers and the abusers that don't leave enough evidence to be caught by conventional means. However another serial killer has turned up in Miami and he's very similar....

For a while I was on the verge of giving this one three stars, but my opinion of the book deteriorated within the last quarter-third or so of the narrative. I wonder if I would have liked this book more if I'd read it before having watched seasons one through seven of the Showtime TV series based on...

Huh, I really liked this one. The thing is, I have seen some episodes of the television show and I have no idea if I would've liked the books less if I hadn't. One of the stronger Dexter books, before they turned odd. The plot is slightly rushed, but the characters are strong.

When I first heard about this series, I thought wow, this sounds like the craziest thing ever -- a serial killer who, well, kills serial killers. I still think this is the craziest thing ever, but it definitely is a good read with twists and turns and a suspenseful plot. Glad I read this and am lo...

I really liked the TV series (especially the first two seasons), and so I wanted to read the book that spawned it. And I must say it's one of those rare cases when I actually liked the TV adaptation more than the original.I'm not even sure I'd have liked the book more if I had never watched the Show...

Fantastic read! I have watched the series and although this book was the inspiration for series 1, I found it so much more compelling to be inside Dexter's head. You realize he is not as cool and aloof as you might think. This read made me appreciate what Michael C. Hall brings to the role of Dexter...
