The two major problems I have with this book (which is why I'm giving it 3.5 stars instead of 4):1) The random smattering of curse words. It's almost like the author felt like she needed to toughen up her material so she throws in a "fuck" every now and then. Every time one character told another...

Everything about this book was rather great: the heroine (Ari) was believably tough; the love interest was mature and swoonable; the mythology was extremely well incorporated; and the setting, the weird-and-wonderful New 2, was everything I could want from a paranormal New Orleans. I liked that Ari ...

Ari can't help but feel alone, abandoned and left to grow up in foster care, labelled a freak because of her silver hair and teal-coloured eyes. When she finds a letter written for her by her mother, dead for years, Ari knows something is wrong, that something is coming for her. She travels to her b...

I love reading stuff about God's and Goddess. I am a little obsessed by them and that was why this book caught my eye. I started reading this book and for some reason I didn't really like it so I decided not to finish it. I will try to read it again maybe someday. Unfortunately not now though.

I really enjoyed the combination of mythology, paranormal, and post-apocalyptic New Orleans in Kelly Keaton's (aka Kelly Gay) first YA urban fantasy. The heroine, Ari, is a seventeen-year-old orphan looking for answers--who's her birth mother? Why did she give Ari up? And what exactly is it that mak...

Circa 2012, a massive storm turned New Orleans into a "natural" disaster zone, and the US government ordered an evacuation. Nine wealthy families banded together to form the Novem, and bought the land. People live in New 2 at their own risk, and the area is said to host supernatural beings.Ari Selki...

Could not finish. I didn't like the prose at all. Maybe some other time I'll pick this up again and hopefully enjoy it. But for now, nope.

Ari was brought up moving from one foster family to another and although she has now found a loving home she has never really felt like she fitted in anywhere. She also has questions about her birth parents and it is when she goes looking for answers that she finds herself in a whole new world. Af...
