Reread because Anne Stuart's first two Rohan books are clearly an homage to this and These Old Shades. The original is still better, but Stuart at least doesn't buy into quite all the dreck about the inherent superiority of the aristocracy. Mary shooting Vidal is the best thing ever.

I enjoyed this book so much and I’m afraid I won’t be able to do it justice with my review. I just feel like I can’t articulate what it is that I loved. But here’s my honest to goodness try.First of all, we’re introduced to our guy, Dominic Alastair, Marquis of Vidal, the son of the Duke of Avon. He...

I love romances, and I love history. I particularly love when those two come together into one book. Knowing how many people love Georgette Heyer, I was absolutely convinced that any of her Regency romances would be exactly what I love. Alas, it was not meant to be. Before you draw and quarter m...

Another jolly road chase. Heyer aged her characters from [book:These Old Shades] very well.

How do you...

When the handsome but notorious Lord Vidal attempts to make the gorgeous Sophie Challoner his mistress, he gets her down to earth no nonsense sister Mary instead, as Mary bids to save her sisters reputation. In doing so, she ruins her own, and so Vidal offers to marry her to save it...Hands down my ...
