I really wanted to enjoy this book, having heard such wonderful things about it. My recent foray into trying to read more science fiction came at a good timeāor so I thought. It was with the desire to be entertained that I began Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Sadly, I think my next experience ...
This is one of those books that inspired a movie that everyone tells you to watch/read. After watching the movie Blade Runner I decided to read the book it was based on.The problem I had with the book is that after so many other books and movie have come out, the original message of this book has be...
Now that I've for some reason started reading genre books and pulp fiction, mainly crime fiction -- I decided to try reading some Sci-Fi. I had tried a couple of things some months ago, and didn't like them (Accelerando, Gene Wolfe), and I was really prepared to hate this. But I didn't -- in fact, I...
It was ok... definitely not Blade Runner it's not heart pounding, page turning sci-fi. The story is grim and has a feeling of despair through out, it also provokes a lot of moral and philosophical questions.
Re-read via R4x and this drops down to 3*. How tastes change!4* - A Scanner Darkly3* - Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?3* - The Minority Report3* - Galactic Pot-Healer

For something written in 60s, it was quite a painful to read in 2012. This book ...
Wow. I tried to read this about a year ago, but only got about a third of the way through before I got distracted and forgot about it. I've never seen the movie, and I didn't know very much about the book apart from the very basic storyline of "There are androids. A bounty hunter has to kill them." ...
Grim and dystopian, yet strangely compelling, this book held my attention until the end, where it went off the rails into theological crazy-town. I'm sure I was supposed to find some deep meaning other than the guy went bat-shit crazy, but I didn't see it.
