Definitely not my favorite Terry Pratchett book, but still a fun read. I loved that it was a story about one of my favorite Dickens' characters, I always thought Dodger deserved his own book! The story was great, as were the characters. Its not as out there or quirky as the Discworld books I have re...
This was my first Terry Pratchett book, and I'm aware that it's not indicative of his typical work. Still, I got to sample the humorous writing style and wordplay that he is known for so well, and I look forward to reading that "voice" put to use on fantasy soon.I intentionally read this book while ...
Dodger by Terry Pratchett If you’re ever in the mood for a cute, light, fluffy, heartwarming story, then you should really think about picking up Dodger. The book’s eponymous protagonist is an orphaned street urchin who lives in Victorian London and works as a “tosher”--that is, someone who goes...
This was a great story with excellent audio narration. The narrator's voice adds so much to the novel. The story is so reminiscent of Dickens (as intended by the author), who is also a character in the novel. The humour is a delight and the story superb.
Set in London in the 1830's, Dodger mixes historical and fictional characters in a very light adventure story. The title character is a Dickensian street hustler who bears some resemblance to the Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist, but not a very close resemblance. Dodger evolves into a sort of Victori...

I'm putting a bow on 2013 by noting my five most satisfying reading experiences of the year - and one memorable other. There are no spoilers here! You can get enough plot details from book blurbs and dozens of other sources. So here they are, in no particular order: Dodger, by Terry Pratchett P...
by Terry Pratchett Disclaimer: I read this book in German so the English review comes first and after Matt Smith the Dodger cover art model comes the German one. Für die deutschsprachigen Leser, einfach ein wenig weiter nach unten scrollen und ihr bekommt den deutschen Text. Great Expectations l...
This may actually be my favorite book from Pratchett that I've read (and I have read quite a few).I loved it even though it features a large number of historical characters (like Charles Dickens), a feature which often annoys me, if not done 'just right.' Although not without Pratchett's trademark h...
I'm just going to say it: this book was a massive disappointment. I'm an avid Pratchett fan, I've read almost all the Discworld books and loved most of them, but this one was mostly a piece of tripe redeemed by, well, not much. All those Pratchetty ideas are there, sure enough - those themes of how ...
