Didn't like it as much as I wanted to, unfortunately. I'm a big fan of Terry Pratchett and I really liked Oliver Twist when I read it - so I was really excited about reading a book about Dodger by one of my favourite authors. But although the story was quite cute in itself ... it somehow didn't quit...

How does it work? A book with a story that come with a trailer. Good if it is from Terry Pratchett. I'm only half way through the book, but I like the kid who are more like a spiderman. Not that he climbed walls or anything. He is a more a reluctant hero who is in the wrong place at the wrong ti...

I have very mixed feelings about this book. Dodger is technically not a Discworld book. In fact, it's set in 19th Century London. On one hand, Pratchett managed to infuse the satire and fun that are a part of his Discworld series in a non-Discworld book. On the other hand, this made it seem so much ...

Strangely enough, it always takes me a while to get into Pratchett’s books for younger readers. They appear more sombre and the message seems to be hammered into the reader’s mind from the onset. I don’t like being lectured and I struggle to see past the didactic purposes and actually enjoy a story ...

Dodger was a fun, entertaining book! I haven't read much [a:Terry Pratchett|1654|Terry Pratchett|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1235562205p2/1654.jpg], so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I enjoyed this book! The characters in this were all very vivid, the story was engaging, ...

Dodger is a charming scamp, friend to all the downtrodden folk of London and king of the sewer toshers. His life may involve a lot of scrabbling in the filth of London town but that makes every shilling he finds in the muck all the more precious. Thanks to his friend Solomon, he has a roof over his ...

Holy smokes, this book was adorable. This isn't my first Pratchett book, but I don't remember much of the one Discworld book I read back when I was thirteen or so. I do remember it being humorous - I just didn't remember how absolutely hilarious Pratchett is. I'm serious. This guy has a penchant f...

This is my second endeavor with Pratchett's work for younger readers and it wasn't quite as delightful as the first ([b:Nation|2855034|Nation|Terry Pratchett|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347831154s/2855034.jpg|34491])While this story is fun and Dodger is a loveable scamp, I was slightly irritated b...

I had a grand time with this fantasy set in an alternate London during Queen Victoria's reign. Dodger is a tosher -- a scavenger in the sewers -- who impulsively rescues a young woman in trouble, and finds out that the world is much more than he ever could imagine. All sorts of historical figures co...

For some reason it took me awhile to finish this book. The story was good. I liked learning more about Victorian England from Dodger's perspective. I enjoyed it while I was reading it but I didn't feel compelled to get back to reading it when I had to stop.
