Title and Statement of Responsibility
I'm finding it difficult to form words for how much I loved every awesome, intrigue-laden, sometimes impenetrable inch of this book. It's fitting that it was the 100th book I finished this year. It made me exclaim aloud. It made me cry multiple times. Even though I know there are five other books ab...

This book (and the other two companion volumes) was a godsend when I was reading the Niccolo and Lymond series, with plenty of little bits to help untangle the more obscure bits of Lady Dunnett's masterworks. Very much recommended.

This is one of the few books I happily reread. Stylistically, the writing is beautiful, and as I read, I feel like I'm dealing with a storyteller who is testing my mind. And then there's the hero. I have to admit that Francis Crawford of Lymond was probably my first big book crush - Dorothy Dunnett ...

So yes–I liked Game of Kings a lot. The melodrama! The intrigue! The history! Also smooth talking blonds–has Sarah Rees Brennan read this book? Also characters who are more than they seem. Lymond is almost like this really weird mix of Howl and Verity. But I’m not sure if I can keep up the emotional...

Best rendition of MacBeth. Ever. Not even Shakespeare gets it this good.

The final book in the Lymond Chronicles and a spectacular finish! Checkmate opens as Lymond and his band of mercenaries leave England behind and travel to France to serve the French King in his battles with King Phillip. As Lymond is still set upon returning to Russia King Henri offers Lymond the an...

Book #5 in the Lymond Chronicles as Philippa matures and becomes a force to be reckoned with. "Not to every young girl is it given to enter the harem of the Sultan of Turkey and return to her homeland a virgin." Now that's what I call an attention getting opening! The Ringed Castle begins book #5 in...

It is two years since the close of The Game of Kings and someone is planning the murder of young Mary Queen of Scots, and Mary of Guise summons Francis Crawford of Lymond to France to stop the murderous plot. Francis comes in disguise as a member of the entourage of a Prince of Ireland, and the game...
