Oh my heavens!!! Why have I not heard of this book before now? It reminds of some of my favorite books by Patricia Wrede with a little Robin Mckinley thrown in and a hint of something else which I'll attribute to Jessica Day George. I love all the characters! I'm a sucker for a strong heroine but th...

This was not a terrible book. I enjoyed the latter half of the book. George's writing style bothers me, since parts of the story seem to move so slowly. However, this book is filled with heart, a strong female role, and a wonderful lesson about looking skin, or scale, deep for character and frien...

If you hate a good laugh you probably should not read this book. Luckily, I LOVE to laugh just as much as I love strong heroines and delicious dragon based fantasy stories. (Hey- this book has those things as well!) If the idea of a shoe collecting dragon makes your eyes roll then I doubt you will s...

I’d read George’s re-telling of “East of the Sun, West of the Moon” awhile back, and this was on my TBR list. I enjoyed it a lot–a sweet interesting story. The writing seemed geared more for upper middle school, lower high school, but I thought it was good. [Oct. 2009]

Not your average heroine or storyline...I have to say, I enjoyed this series much better than the Goose Girl/Enna Burning/River Secrets by Shannon Hale.

What an absolute delight this book was. Charming and fresh for all that it's yet another tale of a poor girl and a dragon- oh, and there's a prince involved. Some of the conceits are just hilarious, especially around the dragons' hoards. The characters are lovable and the situations strain one's cre...
