Trigger warnings for discussions of rape, and child abuse. Dragonfly in Amber covers Claire and Jamie's attempt to stop Bonnie Prince Charlie from starting the Jacobite uprising because history tells us that it will end in slaughter for the Highlanders and the destruction of the clan system. The b...

Dragonfly In Amber did not live up to its predecessor Outlander. It was a slog to get to 40% before I pretty much gave up. The first part of the book surprised me, and I was actually pretty glad when it got back to where we left off at the end of Outlander. But then it got bogged down in minutiae....

(To the tune of "If You're Gone" by Matchbox Twenty) I fear I've lost you foreverNow that I'm safe from the storm.I think I'll never get back thereBack to your arms, where it was warm. I think you've already left meFeels like you never were born.I thought I knew who I was thenYou taught me a new...

I'm not even sure this can be called a book... it's too big! Once again I was enchanted and I loved immersing myself in the history and the story. I did get a bit irritated though, because the author likes to use words that probably hasn't been used in centuries. I get that it fits with the times, b...

I am absolutely in love with JAMMF!There could not possibly be a better man. I love him what you see is what you get with him. This is one of my favorite lines ever in a book.“I will find you," he whispered in my ear. "I promise. If I must endure two hundred years of purgatory, two hundred years w...

I enjoyed the emotions I felt towards the end of the book when everything Claire, Jamie, and the rest of the clansmen worked for was put to use. Again the romantic relationship between the main characters drives me to tears in some spots, **cough** the stones.

DRAGONFLY IN AMBER is the second novel in the main OUTLANDER series. The book carries on the story begun in OUTLANDER, but begins with a brief framing story set in 1968, in which Claire Randall visits a young Oxford don named Roger MacKenzie in Inverness, in search of answers for her daughter, Brian...

Very hard to read, the sense of D R E A D clouded the entire 700+ page novel and made some parts seem to never end. Still, there is no denying that I just read a masterfully skilled story. And I'm unquestionably diving right in to Voyager. It better be as good as you all say! :)

Another great addition to the Outlander series. I have a lot of the same feelings after finishing this book, that I did after finishing the first book, Outlander. I am first and foremost WOWED by Diana Gabaldon's obvious extensive amounts of knowledge of history, and her absolutely breathtakingly be...
