This was a decent enough read and fills in some of the background to the first Mass Effect game.

The writing and plotting is a bit juvenile. I can see how it works for a video game, but in a book, it was a pulp read. However, the depth it adds to the Mass Effect series as a whole is great. Especially the views on the races in general and humanity specifically.

Timeline note: Retribution is set almost immediately after the main storyline of ME2 concludes, but before The Arrival DLC.
