Old Haunts by E. J. Copperman is the third book in the Haunted Guesthouse Mystery series. While it is not particularly well written and does not entirely manage to transcend its formulaic nature, this is an entertaining cozy mystery worthy of a lazy Saturday afternoon. Old Haunts won't change your l...

If you're a fan of the Haunted Guesthouse series, this book takes place from the POV of Alison's mother. In the books, Alison's POV is that her mom is a bit of a loveable dingbat who cannot see anything short of perfection when it comes to her daughter and granddaughter. This comes through loud an...

Excellent book with a great mystery and lots of ghosts, although these ghosts are not really the cliche'd ghosts of books, as the author treats them as corporeal people, not at all scary. There are two mysteries here: one concerning a living person and one about the fate of the protagonist's fathe...

A fun between-the-books short story told from the perspective of Paul, one of the Guesthouse's resident ghosts as he tries to find the mother of a small ghost boy. A clever mystery that involves all the secondary characters of the series, with a minor role played by Allison, the main character in th...

I'm ready for the next. I want more. Those may be simple sentences, but they say it all. The series lead is relatable, fully formed , and grounded. The same is true of all the other characters, the living and the ghostly. The plot is solid, heartfelt, and humorous.

This is a great series, and I enjoyed the way the author chose this book to wrap up all the main characters' pasts. The main murder plot was cleverly done with a very nice twist at the end. The secondary plot of finding Paul's former girlfriend was a bit weak, but didn't detract from my enjoyment ...

This is a charming cozy mystery ... I find Alison Kerby, a newly divorced mother who is very competent in fixing the house as refreshing. I love how she deals with her nine-year-old daughter and her own mother. It is so funny when Alison finds out that she is not the only one in the Kerby's family t...

This was a quick light read. I had it finished within 24 hours. I liked the characters (I loved Maxie!), but it felt like the story was missing something. The story moves along at a nice enough pace. Seeing as the was a first in series book, I didn't expect it to be all that great. The author has se...

Quite excellent for a cozy mystery--and the supernatural element of two ghosts sharing a residence with a single mother and her 9 year old daughter was a nice and often chuckle-worthy touch.
