Edgar Wallace has a fertile imagination when it comes to exploring the depravity of the human species. Like most of his books that I've read so far, this tale is a bit convoluted but still rather gripping. I actually had less trouble than normal keeping track of all the various characters, but I've ...

Edgar Wallace certainly has a fine mind for thinking up skulduggery and clever ways for people to defraud each other. Throw in some legends involving ghosts and lost gold, and you've got quite a story. So, we have Harry Alford, Earl of Chelford who lives in Fossaway Manor, where his family has lived...

This is slightly more straight forward than the other Wallace books I've read recently, I suppose, but still somewhat convoluted. The original novelization of the original movie. A little more background on some of the characters, but not nearly as good as the film.

If you leave the Plaza del Mina, go down the narrow street, where, from ten till four, the big flag of the United States Consulate hangs lazily; through the square on which the Hôtelde la France fronts, round by the Church of Our Lady, and along the clean, narrow thoroughfare that is the High Street...
