I didn't not finish this. I don't think I will. I heard great things about it, but I don't like how the author portrayed Park. She should have done more research on his background. The writing was nice; it flowed well. I couldn't get in to the story. Maybe I'll come back to it in the future. Possibl...

Oh, my god. I have never felt so connect to a character as I have with Eleanor. I saw so much of myself and my life in her— it was almost surreal. I’ve only ever heard good things about Eleanor & Park and yet, I had very low expectations when I started reading it. I was wrong. So, so, so wrong. I de...

I resisted this book for a LONG TIME. I resisted buying it for my library, thinking "modern teens" wouldn't be interested in a romance that takes place around 80s music (I was wrong -- don't worry, I got the book on the shelves!). But even as the hype continued to build and the accolades piled up, I...

Eleanor is the new kid at school. Not quite conventional in appearance or life experience, she steps on to the school bus that first day fully expecting the usual jeers and jabs. Despite this she holds her head high and looks for a place to sit. Every time she spots an empty seat the person sitti...

Here's the thing I'm Caucasian and my boyfriend is half Asian. So of course, I was eager to read a book about Caucasian girl and mixed race boy in love. I ended up disappointed. I didn't like the story/writing but the worst was racism, and objectification of Park.

So, yeah, I could go on and on about the fetishization, racism, etc. I though it wasn't that bad, but had heard about the issue of people being offended by this. And in particular, since Park is half Korean, that Koreans were upset about the representation here. And I wrote a post about how i...
