Mr Knightley > Mr Darcy. Discuss.***Let me just get this out of the way: I love Jane Austen. I’ve read all of the major novels. I’m not an expert or anything, and I haven’t read much in the way of the juvenalia or Sanditon or anything, but it’s telling that I would have a hard time ranking five ...

I absolutely loved this book! Austen is incredibly witty, and the novel often made me laugh out loud. This was my first time reading one of her books. Even though I knew that Emma is a satire, I couldn't help but get really emotionally invested.
'Emma' was delightful. My reading was perhaps over-informed by the '90s film adaptions starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Alicia Silverstone, but they didn't impinge on my enjoyment of the novel as a separate entity. 'I never have been in love; it is not my way, or my nature; and I do not think I ever shall.'Beautiful, clever, rich - and single - Emma Woodhouse is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage. Nothing, however, delights her more than interfering in the romantic liv...

Emma has long played matchmaker for her friends and believes her own heart immune from the lures of love. This is a fascinating, hilarious coming-of-age tale of one woman seeking her true nature and finding true love in the process. (source) After reading The Jane Austen Book Club together, my tu...
After many years of abhorring Emma Woodhouse after the first few pages, I finally committed to finishing. How could I call myself a true Jane Austen fan without reading all of her novels? She only wrote six! I don't know if it is because I have grown older and wiser or (probably) have been favorably...

She believes that she is an expert matchmaker, but her plans keep backfiring and causing problems for everyone in her life, including herself.I didn't like this book nearly as much ...
