There are a few things that I have to say before commenting on this book as such. Firstly this is the second time that I read it, but I have listed it as a read book because when I read it the first time the friend who had lent it to me then proceeded to tell me all of the jokes. In fact, every Disc...

The reason this is one of my favorite Pratchett books is that even though it's one of his "grownup" novels, it's pretty much an all-ages read. The main character is very young and you're following her story. I'd say more about how awesome Pratchett is, but 1. it's already been said by better writers...

Better than "The Light Fantastic", not as good as "Wyrd Sisters". I've never really taken to Terry Pratchett - he tries too hard to be funny, rather than letting it come naturally. Unfortunately for this wizard, the eighth son turns out to be a girl and all sorts of trouble follows. So why can'...

It brought flashes of A Wizard of Earthsea though with a twist. And some twist it was. I wish Pratchett writes more about this female wizard.

A little girl accidentally inherits a wizard's awesomely powerful staff and fun ensues, also a valuable lesson in headology.

This is one of my favorite Discworld books, and I freely admit that it's the feminist story-line that earns it a spot as one of my faves. However, it feels like it's not quite finished when it ends.
