"Fables" is the hugely imaginative story of a group of fairy tale characters exiled from their mythical homelands and forced into a secret existence in modern-day America. Featuring such familiar names as Snow White, Prince Charming and Bigby (formerly Big Bad) Wolf, this is hard-edged fantasy in the grand tradition of The Sandman. The war for the Homelands is over, and the "Fables" have won - but at what cost? As Gepetto surveys his new home, a terrible force is unleashed, the rebuilding and reconciliation process starts...and a Fable dies! Volume twelve of the award-winning fantasy series by Bill Willingham and regular artists Mark Buckingham ushers in a dangerous new era for the "Fables!"

We also get to see Charming's funeral...

The Dark Ages is the perfect combination of things I love in any story: pathos, tragedy and a glimmer of hope. My personal favourite types of stories are not those full of nothing but despair and pseudo-grit but really those with a conflict between darkness and light. That is what this volume of Fab...

5.0 Fables Vol. 12: The Dark Ages
This could have possibly been my favorite volume thus far. Would like to see more of the new villains awakened in this book, one of which sort of reminds me of an evil Sandman. :)
