The second part of the Use of English paper in the FCE , CAE & CPE Cambridge examinations is the open cloze, in which students use one word to fill each space in a short text. The required words are usually from different word categories , such as pronouns, articles, prepositions, auxiliary verbs and so on.

This document contains a list of the words that usually come up most frequently in the open cloze task of the Use of English paper of the Cambridge English exams.

Remember that some gaps in this part can be filled by referring just to the immediate phrase or sentence,but others will require understanding of the paragraph or whole text.
