It´s impossible to say something about the story of Fingersmith without spoiling it and a lot of my enjoyment in reading this book came from not knowing anything about the story. So let me just say that there are a lot of awesome twist and turns throughout the book, which kept me on the edge of my s...

Much more psychological suspense than romance, but damn if Sarah Waters doesn't tell a good tale. Bonus - you learn about how smutty reads were distributed in the nineteenth century. Thank you internet.

53. FINGERSMITH, BY SARAH WATERSRecommended by Holly, on Goodreads. I had heard about this book before, and was interested, but couldn’t find it for a while. I did find it on this second try, though, so I got to reading it. Because of the previous recommendation, I was expecting a romance story with...

My first Sarah Waters's novel was the unimpressive The Night Watch which felt a bit like a B-movie with creaky dialogue. The first hundred and fifty pages of this book took me four or five days to get through. The writing was lovely but so sleep inducing. Then bam plot twist. So many plot twists. I ended up really enjoying myself. As a general rule I'm not a fan of retellings as story from a student perspective, but i...

Lately I’ve been in a book funk. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read, but nothings really jumped out at me. I’m a would-be-writer, so needed something that would inspire me to write again as recently I’ve been suffering from a real lack of motivation. Well, this book did that and more. It made me want to la...

Really 4.5. To properly review this book would involve too many spoilers to bear, suffice it to say that the twists and turns and layers of surprises make it quite the story.

I LOVE this book. The audio was a joy. I think the narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life.
