YA novel. Astrid is the girl who is used to being feared and getting what she wants because of it. But when this spoiled millionaire's daughter gets kicked out of her private high school, she finds out what it's like to be a normal kid at the local public high school. In fact, she finds out what it feels like to be one of the outsiders who isn't feared, but instead looked down on. But Astrid's blatantly honest dialogue works to make her a fun lead to follow. And her scheming to get back on top in her old life makes for an interesting plot line. Will she be able to make real, normal friends? Let alone convince them to help her get her old status back? See how this rich girl copes when their money and status mean absolutely nothing to her surroundings.

I'm gonna give this between 1.5 and 2 stars.I had such high hopes for David Iserson's Firecracker. I mean, when you hear that a writer from New Girl writes a YA Contemporary, you expect a smart, laugh-a-minute-read...well, what I got was a frustrating, disappointing, only sometimes funny, read.Astri...
Actual rating: 4.5(This review was originally posted at My Library in the Making.)When I think of how to start this review, the only thing that comes to mind is 'Did I really think of skipping this book?', because yes, I did. The blurb/description/whatever-it's-called doesn't hint at even one percen...
See more of my reviews sooner on Birth of a New Witch! My copy was an ARC I received from the publisher via NetGalley. There are three things I associate with this book: funny, stupid, and stupid-funny. Stupid-funny and funny are what the book was trying to be. Stupid is what it actually turned out t...
