The story itself was good, and the writing wasn't bad. However, the short, awkwardly divided chapters and the cornball, George Lucas-esque dialogue prevented this from being amazing. Still, I look forward to finishing the series and reading some of Asimov's other works.
I came to the original Foundation books rather late, so it was lovely for me when all the other books came along tying the Robot and the Foundation series together. And I guess it's time for a reread, because I don't remember what happens in any of them any more.
