Perhaps if one first read this as a child it would be more effective;: it came across as heavy-handed to me. When the other mice are gathering food for winter the titular hero just sits around, but in his season he provides spoken art to warm the hearts of the others. Library copy.

This is a super cute story of mouse who dreams the autumn away. While his family is gathering food for the long winter, Frederick is gathering memories and words to take away the winter. I love Frederick!
