When I started reading Freight Train I could not figure out why it was on so many best of lists. Then I hit the middle and I definitely got it. Yes, yes, yes. So give the book a chance if you haven't read it. It's surprisingly creative and fun and solid in the concepts.
Freight Train would be used in my future classroom by introducing/reviewing colors. This way the students can have a visual of what each color is. As a class we could also talk about how a train works and the different parts of a train (ex: caboose, engine, etc). In the book it also talks about tres...
