Formulaic, cliché, and very predictable. I continued to read it in hope of an unexpected twist. It never came. In spite of all that, I felt the prose itself was well written and was not painful to read. As far as the historical conspiracy thriller genre goes, I rank it as an average book.
Initially, the novel seemed as if it would be too violent for me to read, but after the early scenes of murder, the book turned into the quintessential mystery! It was exciting and tense.
