Not nearly as good as his earlier volumes of short stories/novellas. In particular, "1922" was absolutely tedious, to the point that I didn't finish it and instead skipped on to "Big Driver." "1922" is pretty much just a spin on Poe's "The Tell-tale Heart", except that King takes something like 12...

"Dark Dark Dark. This is not the old Steven, the Steven who let you fill in the details. No, he paints detailed, horrific and all too real visions of the darkest side of humanity. Not for the squeamish!"

I was expecting some supernatural stories, as I usually do when I read horror. The other three were good enough I suppose but nothing else really stood out. 1922 really is worth the price of admission. A very, very dark story with no one to like and no "winners". I wasn't wild about this one. I give it four stars only because the last story saved the book from the it's generally mediocre 3 star score. The stories were good, but not great and one of the them was a little too similar to one of the later stories in Just After Sunset, which I read just before ...

Four short stories:#1 - '1922': if you have a rat aversion this is not for you. Look how big Norwegian Blacks can get:#2 - 'Big Driver': Tess is the author of the cozy and bland Willow Grove Knitting Society mystery series. #3 - 'Fair Extension' #4 - 'A Good Marriage'

After reading The Dark Tower series, I thought I'd give Stephen King's other stuff another try. Nope. Still don't like horror. Sorry.
