1998 Ignatz Award Winner, Outstanding Graphic Novel: The inspiration for the feature film and one of the most acclaimed graphic novels ever.Ghost World has become a cultural and generational touchstone, and continues to enthrall and inspire readers over a decade after its original release as a graphic novel. Originally serialized in the pages of the seminal comic book Eightball throughout the mid-1990s, this quasi-autobiographical story (the name of one of the protagonists is famously an anagram of the author's name) follows the adventures of two teenage girls, Enid and Becky, two best friends facing the prospect of growing up, and more importantly, apart. Daniel Clowes is one of the most respected cartoonists of his generation, and Ghost World is his magnum opus. Adapted into a major motion picture directed by Terry Zwigoff (director of the acclaimed documentary Crumb), which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. This graphic novel is a must for any self-respecting comics fan's library. Two-color comics throughout

This baffles me. I can't understand why it's so highly regarded. Sometimes it's fun to be a hater, sometimes it's cathartic, but this was exhausting. Even though they annoyed me to pieces (from the slut-shaming to the always-being-complaining-about-anything-and-anyone to the really mean prank they pulled on that guy) I could...
Dzisiaj przeczytałam komiks o niczym. Ghost world to historia dwóch przyjaciółek - Enid and Rebeki. Rebecca jest ładną dziewczyną, ale nie ma wyrazistej osobowości, dlatego ludzie jej nie zauważają. Pragnie miłości i jest gotowa się zakochać, nie ma przy tym wielkich wymagań.Enid to zbuntowana nasto...
Basically sort of actively unpleasant to read, in a way that makes me think I'm supposed to hate it so much I love it just to be contrary. However, being contrary, this just made me hate it more.
I can see how this comic would have massive cult appeal to the 'disenfranchised youth' of the 90's. However, this book is the bastard child of Strangers in Paradise and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac with a dash of Clerks. It has all the negativity of both books (Plus Daria and Roseanne) but none of th...
