Sung in Blood is a little known work penned by Glen Cook, the author of such amazing series as The Black Company and The Dread Empire, and it was written by Mr. Cook for dissemination at a convention he appeared at in the 1990s then published later in novel form. Truthfully, the book can be charact...

I'd been meaning to read this for years, and really expected to like it better. I'm down with dark fantasy; I don't expect (or want) nothing but sweetness, light, and happy little elves dancing a merry jig. So I didn't have a problem with the rather grim miasma that pervaded this book. But someho...

I was not impressed by this book. People speak very highly of it, and one of these people was Steven Erikson, the author of The Malazan Book Of The Fallen series. Now I quite enjoyed Malazan, and since I enjoy seeking out the influences of things I appreciate, I thought I'd better read me some Glen ...

I began reading this book two months ago and haven't enjoyed it. I've put it off and put it off. Today I finished reading it. I was less than pleased with this novel. Usually I don't finish books because I don't really have the time or forget what I'm reading. However, with this one, I just didn't w...

I like Glen Cook and his writing style and I enjoyed The Black Company books, but I'm not convinced I'll like this series as much. I'm still undecided, but I could be persuaded to lean either way.

Interesting book with a detective called Garrett investigating ta missing heiress. Quite a good fantasy pastiche of the detective novel. The first of the series

Honestly I didn't care what happened to the characters beyond a certain natural curiousity and wouldn't hunt up the rest of the series. Nepanthe is being sought by Varthlokkur, however she has found love elsewhere. He has been waiting for a long time for her, holding death off with magic. Intellig...
