An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird.

Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

Go Set a Watchman features many of the characters from To Kill a Mockingbird some 20 years later. Returning home to Maycomb to visit her father, Jean Louise Finch - Scout - struggles with issues both personal and political, involving Atticus, society, and the small Alabama town that shaped her.

Exploring how the characters from To Kill a Mockingbird are adjusting to the turbulent events transforming mid-1950s America, Go Set a Watchman casts a fascinating new light on Harper Lee's enduring classic. Moving, funny, and compelling, it stands as a magnificent novel in its own right.

2.0 Go Set a Watchman, by Harper Lee
Gave it three or four chapters, and despite some characters that sorta seemed like they might become interesting, there just wasn't anything there that really hooked me and drew me in. It started to feel like a slog, and there's just too many other books out there to get to. DNF.

4.0 Go Set a Watchman
I liked this novel more than I liked To Kill a Mockingbird which is supposed to be the first book in this series. I think that’s because I understood the characters more and their actions and attitudes seemed to fit them. I read this book for book club, and listening to the discussions surrounding t...

In sum, "GO SET A WATCHMAN" bears out Thomas Wolfe's saying 'you can't go home again.' Jean Louise (better known as 'Scout' from Harper Lee's best-selling novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird") journeys back from NYC (where she has lived for some time) to her family home in Maycomb County, Alabama. It is t...

0.0 Go set a... sketchy tale about why this was published at all?
I have one good thing to say about this: it's not, technically, canon. No stars because I don't know how to rate a ghost book, one that should not have been.

5.0 Go set a Watchman Harper Lee
An absolutely beautiful book. Harper lee's Go set a Watchman isn't quite as good as to Kill a mocking bird, but it's totally "The book" to lay the final bricks to what is a well loved book by all generation's. In go set a Watchman, we meet Cheeky, Fesity Very opinionated "scout" Again. The girl th...
