This review also posted at A Bookish CompulsionThis is my first five star book of 2013, an easy rating to make as it truly blew me away. I loved how different this book was; taking Victorian Steampunk in a whole new direction and immersing me in a world that was both vibrant and compelling. I trul...

When I started the audio for this I thought it was interesting but it also reminded me a bit of Souless.....then as I continued listening I started thinking while not a bad story it is just to slow....too much information...I thought I was at least half way through and when I checked I still had a c...

This one started off slow for me, but really picked up about 60 pages or so in. Interesting world here with vamps, weres, goblins, plagues, halvies...all kinds of stuff. Will be lookin for the 2nd one! RECOMMEND!

Overall I enjoyed the story. I liked the cast of characters. I enjoyed the heroine- I thought she was ballsy. The steampunk element was a minor one; this felt more urban fantasy to me. I wasn't sure how much I would like this, since I usually avoid alternate history themed books, but I did get i...

Kate Locke completely turned this notion on its head and instead gave us present steampunk society where Queen Victoria never died and instead became the undead and rules for all eternity....

This book is fraught with problems which might not bother those readers who are big fans of the urban fantasy genre, but which bothered the more picky and demanding reader that I am. I also would use "urban fantasy" rather than "steampunk" here - even though the novel is marketed as the latter - bec...

The awesome tagline "Keep calm and pray for dawn" is a tease- promising a slam-bang hell-ride of a story but GSTQ fails to fully deliver on the goods. The backstory is similar to the Underworld franchise, where paranormals emerged from a viral strain instead of magic. Here we have the Prometheus Plag...

This was an interesting take on vampires, werewolves, and goblins with a steampunk edge. I like the explanation given for how vamps, etc came to be, and there's an interesting mystery in the book as well. First of a planned trilogy, I will be looking for the sequels. However, this book does well as ...
