After finding out that Lehane has just written the last Kenzie/Gennaro, I took my time simply enjoying immersing myself in this, the fourth book of the collection. I'm sure after I finish the last two, I'll move on to Mystic River and Shutter Island.

While all of Lehane's Patrick & Angie books are 5-star reads, IMHO, this one stands out as the best. The subject matter is dark, but I think that makes it all the more gripping. I read this book after seeing the movie and enjoying it. I've liked every book by Lehane that I've ever read.

I didn't love this one quite as much as the other ones in the series, but still enjoyed it.

But Patrick and Angie work with the local missing child unit, bringing in their regular cast of colorful associates to lend their able and sometimes bloody h...

The search for more writers in the hard-boiled detective genre continues, and Lehane can be added to the list. There’s nothing more pleasurable than a cynical, wise-cracking detective. For example, Boston private eyes Patrick McKenzie and partner Angela Gennaro become involved in a child disappearan...
