The first of the Arkady Renko novels, and one of the best modern thrillers around. Three faceless bodies turn up in Moscow's Gorky Park, and it is up to Renko to solve it. Top notch writing, smart characters, and nonstop action make this worth reading. To read the complete review, please go here:htt...

One of the few times where I wished I had read the book because the narration by Henry Stozier was only so so. I will continue on with the series though since it is so universally acclaimed and I enjoy stories set in the Soviet Union.

Read it while stationed in Germany during the Cold War. It was the first book that gave me a desire to visit Russia. Strange for a murder mystery but it humanized the monolith of the USSR.

I really enjoyed it, but I never felt the desire to read more books by the author. Maybe I was caught up in the hype.
