The story sounded like it might have been interesting, if I could have understood what the hell was going on through the book. I could not get into the writing style at all, it was confusing half the time (or most the time), and I didn't much care for the characters either.

Rating: 2.5* of fiveThe Book Report: Twenty-four short fictions from philosophical scientist Zebrowski. All the stories in the collection are centered around Big Ideas...what if Gödel's incompleteness theorem can be disproved by artificial intelligence? What if Lenin's assassination by Sidney Reilly...

Nothing terribly impressive in this collection.I had already read the two standouts - "Minla's Flowers" (Alastair Reynolds) and "Muse of Fire" (Dan Simmons). 1.5 stars perhaps. Forgettable stories. Kept finding excuses not to finish the book. I finally realized I was not looking up any of the authors' other works to read. Time to move on. So many other good books to read.

After loving Timescape, I just couldn't finish this one. I think it just didn't hit the right buttons for me, unlike the time-tripping in Timescape.

This tale of future (at the time the book was published) scientists struggling to prevent an environmental disaster spoke to my idealist, liberal, college girl heart while at the same time scratching my time travel itch. Fun stuff, although I'm not sure it would hold up well if I re-read it now.
