Discussion group centered on recommending, reading, and discussing good fantasy literature that promotes worthy values . . . how to be a better person.
I'll moderate. Let's keep the conversation positive and civil, even in cases of disagreement with another person's ideas.
Me? I'm Philip Martin, the author of A Guide to Fantasy Literature. I also run the FantasyLit.com website.
There is no age-category limit on the books. Any type of age range, from children's literature to books for older readers, is fine as a starting point for discussion.
1. Keep it civil and play well with others.
2. Discuss (a) the positive values and (b) the literary quality that you find in any particular book of fantasy literature that you'd like to recommend to others.
3. Give feedback on books recommended by others.
4. Read & heed Rule #1! Those who don't will be tossed, with regrets, but firmly. This isn't a discussion group where you should be getting angry or annoyed! Stay positive, listen well, and avoid emotional or extended back-and-forth arguments. Say what you have to say and keep an open mind. If so, I think we'll get a lot out of this group.
