Some amazing writing in here, as I'd expect; nevertheless, most of the stories feel kind of unpolished. Still great fun to read, especially if you're a fan of Vonnegut. It's especially interesting to see how his characteristic style developed in various ways through his various works. Worth a look.
Vonnegut can give you a glimpse of the majesty of the human experience while simultaneously feeding your cynicism. After reading this book of his work before Sirens of Titan and even Player Piano, it's clear that he could do that from day one as a writer. Thank god he quit GE!
You know, there's a reason why this pieces weren't published in his lifetime. I don't want to read them all so that I can explain, in detail, the failings of each. I prefer to revel in the really good stuff.
