I love this book more than I can put in words. I WISH it had been around when I was younger...all new parents should read this book to their children.

Gerald the giraffe is ready to strut his stuff at the annual Africa dance. Until... all of the other animals realize what he is about to do and tease and laugh at him (because everyone knows that giraffes can't dance!). Fun to read with an audience. Bright illustrations.

Well, I just recommended this book to my musically inclined uncle, who as far as I know, hasn't read a children's book since his kids were young. Although, one never knows--maybe he has. At any rate, I'll just essentially repeat what I told him.The book is very lyrical and has a clear rhythm to it...

The penguins are currently playful, but since there's an odd mix of species and a leopard seal mom, and her harp seal baby, I think the author maybe doesn't know what he's writing about. And since the young penguin-fancier in the house reads a lot of nonfiction, the mistakes were glaring.

Good book for toddlers who are attracted to dinos, not much to sustain the weary parent
