I don't really know how I feel about this book. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it and I didn't want to put it down in some parts. But some parts were just down right ridiculous. I feel like I didn't connect with the characters very well. Miranda and Phillips were both likable characters but I didn't ...

I do so love paranormal stories with plots that incorporate strange and/or mysterious circumstances surrounding real historical events, and this book certainly fits that description. Not the sort of book to blow me away in sheer awe, but not a bad one by any means. I thought the "fannish teenager" side of the main character was pretty well captured, and the plot was okay enough, although a little thin at times.

The second I heard that Blackwood featured the disappearance of the Roanoke colonists, I HAD to read it. The Roanoke mystery is one of my favorite historical conundrums. What happened to them? Where did they go? Did anyone survive? This one begins in present day Roanoke Island. Miranda Blackwood is a...
