What an unusual tale; a real page-turner written by a talented storyteller. Tinti's descriptions were so vivid, I swear I could smell the boys' room at Saint Anthony's. And how surprising to find myself rooting for Ren, a one-handed liar and thief who, by most standards, is not a "good" kid. Perhaps...

This is a story you can really get lost in. I love how it makes you think and you can see how it's played out in your head.I did not see it ending the way it did though.

This actually deserves 4.5 stars in my opinion. It's like an American version of Oliver Twist. I really enjoyed it.

Definitely a young adult novel, although not billed as such. This is like a cross between a Charles Dickens hard luck tale and a Stephen King creepfest. There's a chunk in the middle where it dwells too long on the grave-robbing antics, but otherwise it's quite entertaining. Worth reading just for...

My 11 year old and I both listened to this book and very quickly he out stripped me and finished the book a good week or so before I did. I finished (an ARC copy of) The Good Thief three days ago, and have been struggling with the review. Objectively I know there's nothing new here, but the writing is so up my alley and the atmosphere of the novel is so well put-together that I want to rave and rave over it.Tinti's main character is a...

This was such an interesting story. I was surprised a bit at the violence and there was a bit of "creepiness" that made it just that much more fun! Nice twists and turns but I was left wanting to know more about Ren and Benjamin.

A rollicking good tale. Ren, a one-handed orphan who has spent his life in St. Anthony's orphanage in New England, is plucked out by a supposed relative, Benjamin. Lots of preposterous (but I enjoyed them) adventures and misadventures ensue, while Ren tries to lead a "good" life among thieves and wo...

The Good Thief is written in the style of a Charles Dickens or Robert Louis Stevenson novel. It tells the story of a boy named Ren who was left at an orphanage as a baby. One day a man claiming to be his brother comes to take him away. He tells stories of Indian scalpers to explain what happened to ...
