The magic is back!! This was filled with humor and the wild antics of our favorite, very pregnant, Lady Alexia Maccon. Though there were a couple of times I felt bad for the Wolsey Pack. Not just for having to put up with her antics but because of how it ends for them. We do learn more about her fa...

Yet another solid installment, I can't wait to read the 5th book!Everything in the Parasol Protectorate series gets turned upside down in this book - new werewolves, new sides of characters, new vampire abodes. Not to mention there was an octomatons (an octopus automaton), which was nothing short of...

While the story no longer focusses on Conall and Alexia, I still found it fun and engaging. The novel is more about the changing dynamics that her pregnancy has brought about. Every revelation is revealed through Alexia's investigative efforts. There is a lot of action and intrigue. While novel d...

I think this may be my least favorite book in this series so far. It's not a bad book, not by any stretch, but there were just too many little things that bothered me, and I couldn't just sink in and enjoy. This is the first time Alexia's meddling actually bothered me, even if it all turned out okay ...

The Parasol Protectorate strides mightily forward in it's fourth book. There's another dastardly plot that must be solved and Lady Alexia and friends are once again up to the task. One of the things I love about this series is that the over-the-top voice never lets up. I think if Carriger ever stopp...

This installment felt a bit slower than the earlier ones. I still enjoyed it but it seemed to be intended to fill in some background and to rearrange the playing field for the next book. A worth-while read in other words but not as strong as the previous books.

originally posted: http://newborrowedused.blogspot.com/2012/08/book-review-heartless.html#commentsMy Thoughts: This book is my favorite of this series so far. It had plenty of action (and then some) along with a waddling, pregnant Alexia. Couldn't ask for more.I said in my review of Blameless that I...

Review: So, Alexia's baby's nearly due, and they have to find somewhere for her to live. Luckily, Lord Akeldama agrees to take the child in, leading to arguements in various forms. In other news, there's a plan to kill the Queen and the only source of info is a fading ghost, and Madame Lefoux seems ...

Just excellent. Really great writing that so perfectly paints a picture in your head as you're reading, with colourful characters that come alive and jump off the page. I absolutely love the British-style humour. This fourth book goes a long way towards expanding on some of the secondary character...
