there's more to life than reading books
I almost didn't finish this when I realised it was going to be told through the grandson reading some old diaries. It was actually a little boring to begin with but about half way I couldn't stop reading. I really had to find out how the grandfather's story ended. Very sweet.

I went into this book not knowing anything about it except it came highly recommended. They were so right. It is a lovely story and is told in such a way that it felt intimate. It is touching and romantic. I loved it.

I really enjoyed the story and strong plot, but the writing felt slightly stilted to me. Still, it was interesting, sweet and free. I look forward to reading future works by this author and seeing Zir grow.

This was a really good free read. The story involves a young gay man discovering the secret of his mysterious grandfather through reading his journals. The journal entries outline his experience as a gay man in the 1960's. Nicely done.

Michael says at one point that the writing is formal... I would more easily have said childish. I've never associated sho...

Gorgeous story within a story. Some of the journal entries were heartbreaking. Okay so I guessed how (and who) it was going end, because that's the way I would have written it.

I put off reading this story for so long and I have no idea why because I absolutely loved it. It's written in a very unique style. Set in present day, it is told from a teenaged Michael's POV but also from a series of letters he uncovers about a grandfather he never knew about. Michael goes on a li...
