I loved this book in a way I could never love Little Women or Anne of Green Gables, and I have no idea why. I think something about it just appealed to me. However, the sequel is actually BETTER.
I read this over and over again while I was learning to read. I loved it then, and honestly, I still love it. It's a beautiful and classic story that everyone should read at least once.
This is something that I only remember from the old tv series that used to be on when I was a child but I thought it might be a good book to read to my daughter. Which indeed it was.It was more of a morality tale than I remember it being. If we only put our trust in God and prey every night, everyth...
It's one of the best books of my childhood. I've read it quite a long time ago but I still remember Heidi's adventures and I recommend this book not only for children but also adults. Sometimes it's nice to transfer to some distant place in time and space and to keep your imagination on the go :)
I love, love, love this book! One of my childhood favourites. Despite the fact that I hate milk, reading this book always made me wish I could live on a farm and drink fresh milk every day. I also wanted to have a bed of hay in the loft, never thought of how itchy it might get!
A commenter on my blog wrote today about Heidi:"I read a "charming classics" version aloud to my daughter about 6 or 7years ago. I remember that there were some beautifully descriptive passagesin it, but that there were also some bludgeon-you-with-the-message scenes.Overall, I found it more slow-goi...

My copy was that abridged version with lots of illustrations-- part of that series that introduced kids to lots of classics, including Dracula and Charles Dickens. You know the ones I'm talking about? The...
My sister and I were so enamored of this book when we were little. With that in mind, I'll let my four-star rating stand. However, I recently ran across a copy of the book and thought it might be fun to read it again after all these years. Nostalgia and all that, right? I was sickened by the ove...
I read this book so often as a child that the covers fell off, the binding broke, and I lost about half the pages. Heidi is almost insufferable in her Merciful Christian Perfection--but only *almost*. There's a spark of fun to her, and I was absolutely enthralled by her simple, earthy lifestyle. ...
Well. When I was about ten years old, I loved this book. I'm sure I read it ten or twelve times. The allure of reading about fresh mountain breezes when my own location was 105 F in the summers was powerful. I loved how Heidi stuck it to grouchy old Rottenmeier. But I made the mistake of going back t...
