Simple and lyrical, the poem illuminates the photographs, the photographs inform the poem. This is a book that Owen would have worn out from reading over and over. The photos are stellar- macro-lens insects and arachnids. It reads the way being a bug-obsessed kid feels, and brought back with crysta...

This pretty book shows kids the life cycle of monarch butterflies and milkweed plants. Lovely pictures, and a good addition to that elementary school "life cycle of a butterfly" unit.

There were parts of this that I really loved, and as always, Helen Frost's writing and structure are beautiful. I'm not sure why I didn't connect as much to this story as others of hers I've read.

Unfortunately, the format is a major problem, which usually isn't the case for a novel-in-verse. My eyes kept gettin...

When I began this book, I thought, "Oh, no, not more historical fiction! Oh, no, not another novel in verse!" I had found myself at a point of disinterest with the latter and disgust with the former.I feel much better now. This beautiful book tells the story of two closely bonded neighboring families...
