Hellboy, Vol. 3: The Chained Coffin and Others
by:
Mike Mignola (author)
Mike Mignola's story notes accompany the long out-of-print stories, giving insight into their creation and inspiration. Some consider Mignola's short stories better than the full-length novels, and this collection makes a strong argument for that, especially with Mignola's masterpiece, "The Corpse."

I think this may be the volume that's gotten me hooked to Hellboy. I love the way Mignola uses folklore as a starting point to his stories. (And I loved the notes he added to this collection.) Most of the stories here are very short, but none of them felt too short, or stretched out, for that matter...
At this point I can't say much else besides the fact that I freaking love Hellboy and Mike Mignola.
