I read 3 of the stories in the book. The Sookie Stackhouse story by Charlaine Harris was just ok. I really enjoyed the Patricia Briggs story. The story by Stacia Kane which featured Chess & Terrible was very good.

After about five stories, I concluded that nothing was going to make the topic of fictional home improvements interesting to me. (Although Patricia Briggs' story "Gray" is very sweet.)

Average story length = 24 pages, which seems perfect for dipping into. Will add to the review as I go, if the spirit moves me (heh). 1. If I had a Hammer. I liked this Charlaine Harris well enough - perfectly inoffensive slice of Sookie, sans vamps. 2. Wizard Home security. Cute. author blurb says h...

Mixed bag, as most anthologies are.A few standouts:Patricia Brigg's "Gray" -- Sadly sweet tale from the perspective of vampire. Takes place in the Mercy Thompson world, but no crossover. Well worth the time spent reading.Stacia Kane's "Rick the Brave" -- Don't miss your chance to see Chess and Ter...

No offense to any author I may shirk.Charlaine Harris's If I Had A Hammer is a Sookie story with Sam, JB, Tara, and Tara...

I only read the Sookie Stackhouse short story. Very blah to me. I am usually entertained with any glimpse of the Sookie-verse but this one was lacking. And short (27 pages).
One Book Away From an Episode of Hoarders
I wanted to read this book for both Charlaine Harris and Stacia Kane's stories. The Sookie story wasn't bad and Downside was a nice place to revisit (I did miss Terrible). I loved the stories by Rochelle Krich and Suzanne McLeod (now I have to check out the Spellcracker series) and I also enjoyed ...

An excellent collection of stories. I enjoyed every single spooky one, save for two which I found to be a tad too dark for my taste. I will definitely pull this book out again and again when in the mood for a good short story.

If I Had A Hammer (Charlaine Harris) - I'm not even bothering with these Sookie shorts anymore, their usually pretty pointless.Wizard Home Security (Victor Gischler)3 stars - This is a cute and funny story but not quite laugh-out-loud. A wizard gets robbed and calls Wizard Home Security to come and...
