OMMGGGGG!!! this book was so scary--literally gave me nightmares. but it's SO GOOD!! it was like one of my fave books when i was ten years old. i luv the illustrations too.

I love John Bellairs, he has such a way with writing children's suspense, and the Edward Gorey illustrations go with the story perfectly. As much as I loved this book, Lewis is sort of a loathsome character. He spends the whole book crying, and snooping. I get that Bellairs is trying to make a point...
